Wonders of the World
Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu
The highlight of a trip to Peru for many visitors. A Machu Picchu adventure is an experience you won’t forget. Named as one of the seven new wonders of the world and a UNESCO heritage site, it’s worthy of its place on the traveler’s bucket list.
How to Visit Machu Picchu
There are many ways to experience the Inca archaeological site. Good Life Expeditions offers day trips to Machu Picchu with a private guide and multi-day trekking adventures culminating at the impressive Inca citadel. Apart from local farmers, most of Peru and the world were clueless about Machu Picchu’s existence until the site was ‘rediscovered’ by American historian Hiram Bingham in 1911. It’s still shrouded in mystery with many theories on what purpose it served.
Today, you won’t have any trouble finding the site for your Machu Picchu adventure. It’s easily accessible by train to Aguas Calientes, the small town at the archaeological site’s base. We can arrange day trips to Machu Picchu from the Sacred Valley or Cusco.
Spend the night in one of our carefully selected Aguas Calientes hotels to maximize your time at the ruins. With temples, burial sites, and terraces showcasing impressive engineering techniques, there is much to explore within Machu Picchu. Good Life Expeditions can arrange for you to hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain. Both offer impressive views of the citadel below.
Organizing Your Itinerary
No matter how you choose to visit Machu Picchu. Whether it’s to visit just the citadel or hike one of the famous mountain routes, all options must be booked ahead of time. Spots are limited and often fill up months in advance, so visitors are advised to plan.
